"Jaiswal Above Bradman...": Ex India Star's Mind Boggling Comparison

Yashasvi Jaiswal - that is one name which will be discussed by Indian cricket team fans for quote some time now after what he achieved on Friday. The left-handed Indian cricket team opener stood out on the first day of the second Test against England as he stayed unbeaten 179* to guide India to 336/6 at stumps. Jaiswal's innings came amidst some poor batting display from other India batters. Apart from Jaiswal, none of the other Indian batters could even touch 35. This is Yashasvi Jaiswal's second Test ton in 10 Test innings.

After stumps were called, Jaiswal opened up about his approach of tackling one session at a time which allowed him to cruise through the 93 overs that were bowled on the opening day.

"I wanted to play it session by session. When they were bowling well, I just wanted to get through that spell. Initially, the wicket was damp and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. However, I wanted to convert the loose balls and play till the end. I would love to double this up and play till the end for the team," Jaiswal said after the end of Day 1.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's effort was even compared with that of Sir Don Bradman by former Indian cricket team opener Aakash Chopra.

"The most fantastic performance came from Yashasvi Jaiswal's bat. How well the kid batted. Jimmy Anderson was the only pacer and he kept leaving his deliveries. He gave a lot of respect to James Anderson's bowling," Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"When spin came, he hit two fours in the first over. After that, he showed why this player is so special. His conversion rate of fifties into centuries for players, who have 10 or more centuries in first-class cricket is at 73.something. He is even above Sir Don Bradman at this point in time. He is absolutely outstanding."

The former India star lauded Yashasvi Jaiswal's composure. "Yashasvi is living up to his name. He shows every time that he is absolutely stellar. He is standing alone on 179 because the second-highest is not even 40. So Yashasvi Jaiswal on one side and the rest of the Indian team on the other," Chopra added

"He showed how you need to play spin on a surface that is playing like a true Indian surface. It is not a bad pitch, there isn't too much help for spin, on Day 1 of course. He smothered the full deliveries and hit them hard. He didn't have any hesitation to hit in the air and reached his century with a six."

Having consistently generated speed in excess of 150kmph in his maiden IPL earlier this year, Mayank had drawn the attention of the cricketing world before a side strain ruled him out of the tournament. Usually, one has to prove fitness in domestic cricket to be considered for national selection but the 22-year-old has been fast-tracked into the side considering his special talent. The series against Bangladesh will be a test of his fitness and temperament. It is yet to be figured if he can display the same accuracy and control that he exhibited in the IPL. PCB Not Happy With Pak Star Over Social Media Post On Babar Snub: Report

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not pleased that Fakhar Zaman questioned the selection panel's decision to sideline Babar Azam from the Test side. The panel dropped former captain Babar Azam when they announced the squad for the remaining two Tests against England in Multan and Rawalpindi. Zaman took to X to question the decision, inviting the ire of the PCB. "The top board officials are not pleased with the tweet sent out by Fakhar and relevant persons are having a word with him about it," a well-informed PCB source said. "It's concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. India didn't bench Virat Kohli during his rough stretch between 2020 and 2023, when he averaged 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50, respectively. "If we are considering sidelining our premier batsman, arguably the best Pakistan has ever produced, it could send a deeply negative message across the team. There is still time to avoid pressing the panic button; we should focus on sa...
