"India Deserved To Win 2024 T20 WC": Australian Cricket Writers Sam And Ian

The Indian cricket team ended its 17-year-long T20 World Cup trophy drought with a sensational win over South Africa in the final in Barbados a month ago. India won the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007 but failed to repeat the feat until Rohit Sharma and co. lived up to the expectations. During an interaction with NDTV, Australian cricket writers Sam Perry and Ian Higgins, who are also the creators of 'The Grade Cricketer Podcast', said that India deserved to win the tournament.

"India deserved to win the T20 World Cup because they played the very best cricket. We are lucky enough to cover the IPL and have some indepth knowledge of Indian players and the way Indian cricket works. We understand what a special effort it was from that team to transcend a lot of their difficulties at previous World Cups to win the tournament," said Sam Perry.

While talking about how the duo came up with the idea of starting 'The Grade Cricketer Podcast', Sam said: "We are really lucky, Ian Higgins and I played club cricket in Australia which is the level below state cricket. We had dreams of being professional players and we weren't good enough. But having played for so long, we picked up a lot of experience that we didn't feel like was very much reflected in cricket media. So we started a Twitter account, we wrote about our expriences. And then we explored the character of the grade cricketer or the club cricketer through different mediums, one of them was podcast and people seem to enjoy it. We try to bring cricket stories to people with a bit of humour and reflect some of the difficult experiences that you have playing cricket but are unspoken. We are lucky to amass the audience that allows us to keep doing it."

RCB "Will Just Retain Virat Kohli, Release Everyone Else": Ex-India Star

The Board of Control for Cricket in India released the IPL auction rules on Sunday. Each franchise can retain upto 6 players with Right To Match (RTM) option included in it. As the teams have started finalizing their picks ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, former India pacer RP Singh has passed a huge verdict on franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He said that the side will only retain Virat Kohli and release everyone else, relying on the RTM. Notably, Kohli is playing for RCB since the inaugural season of IPL. Kohli is the highest run-getter in IPL history with 8004 to his credit from 252 matches. He has scored 8 centuries, the most by any player in the tournament, and 55 half-centuries. "I feel they don't have any problem. They will just retain Virat Kohli, release everyone else, and use the RTM," RP Singh said during a discussion on Colors Cineplex. Given a total of 6 retentions, including RTM, are allowed, the IPL franchise can choose their combination for it. Howv

156.7 Kmph Sensation Awaits India Debut, Bangladesh Start Life After Shakib

Pace sensation Mayank Yadav is expected to unleash his raw speed while the absence of India's T20 regulars will provide another opportunity to the fringe players in the three-match series against Bangladesh, beginning here Sunday. Having consistently generated speed in excess of 150kmph in his maiden IPL earlier this year, Mayank had drawn the attention of the cricketing world before a side strain ruled him out of the tournament. Usually, one has to prove fitness in domestic cricket to be considered for national selection but the 22-year-old has been fast-tracked into the side considering his special talent. The series against Bangladesh will be a test of his fitness and temperament. It is yet to be figured if he can display the same accuracy and control that he exhibited in the IPL. Besides Mayank, fellow Delhi pacer Harshit Rana and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy could also make their India debut over the course of the series. Nitish was picked for the Zimbabwe tour post the T

T20 WC Live: Netherlands Face Sri Lanka In A Must-Win Game For Dutch

Sri Lanka vs Netherlands LIVE Updates, T20 World Cup 2024: Netherlands may be out of the 2024 T20 World Cup even before their match against Sri Lanka ends, if Bangladesh beat Nepal. However, the Dutch need to beat Sri Lanka by a healthy scoreline to keep any hopes of qualifying to the Super 8 stage alive. The game also offers Sri Lanka a chance to get their first win, in what has been a hugely disappointing tournament for the 2014 champions. They would likely finish bottom of their group if they fail to win.
