Punjab Kings Begin IPL 2025 Training Camp In Dharamshala, No Shreyas Yet

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have begun their training camp ahead of the commencement of Season 18 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Thursday, starting their preparations for the mega event at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium in Dharamshala. The camp has been designed to fine-tune the team's strategy ahead of the tournament as the players train under the coaching staff to get in the groove. The camp has been scheduled from March 12 to March 15 in Dharamsala and will be attended by key Indian players, including wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh, all-rounder Shashank Singh, and veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Head coach Ricky Ponting, assistant coach Brad Haddin, and fast bowling coach James Hopes will also be joining the team at HPCA.

Revealing the reason behind selecting Dharamsala as the training ground, head coach Ricky Ponting said, "It feels great to come here, and a lot of the guys haven't played at this ground, and we've got three games in a row at the back end of the tournament here. So the thinking behind deciding to come here was to give the boys a bit of a feel of this ground."

He added, "We'll make the most of the training days here, and then we've got the possibility of five or six days training in Chandigarh."

The camp will then move to Mullanpur from March 16 and will be joined by captain Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep Singh, who were a part of the 2025 Champions Trophy-winning India squad in Dubai.

The squad, led by Iyer, will train at PBKS's home ground, the new PCA stadium, and will also feature international players like Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, and Lockie Ferguson, among others.

Earlier, the team also organised four training camps for the players to get acclimatized to the playing conditions and strengthen team bonding. While one camp took place in Mumbai in the first week of January, two camps were organised in Chandigarh. This was followed by a fourth camp in Dharamsala in the first week of March.

PBKS will begin their IPL campaign on March 25 against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi International Stadium. After playing another away game against Lucknow Super Giants, the team will return to Mullanpur to play two back-to-back home matches against Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.

156.7 Kmph Sensation Awaits India Debut, Bangladesh Start Life After Shakib

Pace sensation Mayank Yadav is expected to unleash his raw speed while the absence of India's T20 regulars will provide another opportunity to the fringe players in the three-match series against Bangladesh, beginning here Sunday. Having consistently generated speed in excess of 150kmph in his maiden IPL earlier this year, Mayank had drawn the attention of the cricketing world before a side strain ruled him out of the tournament. Usually, one has to prove fitness in domestic cricket to be considered for national selection but the 22-year-old has been fast-tracked into the side considering his special talent. The series against Bangladesh will be a test of his fitness and temperament. It is yet to be figured if he can display the same accuracy and control that he exhibited in the IPL. Besides Mayank, fellow Delhi pacer Harshit Rana and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy could also make their India debut over the course of the series. Nitish was picked for the Zimbabwe tour post the T...

PCB Not Happy With Pak Star Over Social Media Post On Babar Snub: Report

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not pleased that Fakhar Zaman questioned the selection panel's decision to sideline Babar Azam from the Test side. The panel dropped former captain Babar Azam when they announced the squad for the remaining two Tests against England in Multan and Rawalpindi. Zaman took to X to question the decision, inviting the ire of the PCB. "The top board officials are not pleased with the tweet sent out by Fakhar and relevant persons are having a word with him about it," a well-informed PCB source said. "It's concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. India didn't bench Virat Kohli during his rough stretch between 2020 and 2023, when he averaged 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50, respectively. "If we are considering sidelining our premier batsman, arguably the best Pakistan has ever produced, it could send a deeply negative message across the team. There is still time to avoid pressing the panic button; we should focus on sa...

"Gambhir, Agarkar Must Have 'Tough Chat' With Bumrah": Ex-SA Star's Advice

Jasprit Bumrah 's participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is still not a guarantee, with India's pace spearhead still serving his five-week rest tenure as he attempts to recover from a back issue. Bumrah suffered the injury in the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. In light of the situation, former South African pacer Vernon Philander has advised that it may be wiser to manage Bumrah's workload and not make him play all of India's games, particularly in "less important matches". Philander emphasized that the team management, presently headed by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir , may need to have a tough chat with Bumrah on resting him for some games. "I think it's more about how the Indian management manages him. They have to manage his workload in between tournaments," Philander said in a media interaction during the SA20 tournament. "I would say, you perhaps want to look at playing him in...
