Watch: Babar Azam Goes Up Against Azam Khan On Field, The Result Is...

Star batter Babar Azam on Sunday smashed his second half-century in as many games but Pakistan went down against New Zealand in the second T20I in Hamilton. Babar, who hit 57 in the series-opener in Auckland, smashed 66 off just 43 balls, but couldn't guide his team to a win at the Seddon Park as New Zealand took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Babar, who recently stepped down from captaincy across formats, however, enjoyed his time in the middle with the bat, smashing seven boundaries and two sixes.

The former Pakistan captain was also seen having some fun with young wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan.

Babar hilariously collided with Azam, but ended up taking a tumble on contact with the youngster. The video is doing rounds on social media.

Coming back to the match, pacer Adam Milne claimed four wickets as New Zealand beat Pakistan by 21 runs.

Chasing a target of 195, Pakistan collapsed under the lights in Hamilton after Babar and Fakhar Zaman scored half-centuries as they were dismissed for 173 in the final over.

Victory came at a cost for the Black Caps, whose captain Kane Williamson retired hurt with a hamstring injury while batting, placing him in doubt for the remainder of the five-match series.

The match bore similarities to New Zealand's 46-run win in the opening match in Auckland on Friday, with their attack taking wickets at regular intervals to deny Pakistan a foothold in their chase.

" I have to be adaptable and have different gears to my game - to my game it's pleasing to see it come through today. I thought 200 would be a good score and we were going good when Daryl came out to bat. He's a calming figure, we always try to bounce off each other and help each other (about Kane Williamson)," batter Finn Allen, who was named Man of the Match, said after the match.

Allen blasted five sixes in his 74 off 41 balls to dominate the innings.

PCB Not Happy With Pak Star Over Social Media Post On Babar Snub: Report

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not pleased that Fakhar Zaman questioned the selection panel's decision to sideline Babar Azam from the Test side. The panel dropped former captain Babar Azam when they announced the squad for the remaining two Tests against England in Multan and Rawalpindi. Zaman took to X to question the decision, inviting the ire of the PCB. "The top board officials are not pleased with the tweet sent out by Fakhar and relevant persons are having a word with him about it," a well-informed PCB source said. "It's concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. India didn't bench Virat Kohli during his rough stretch between 2020 and 2023, when he averaged 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50, respectively. "If we are considering sidelining our premier batsman, arguably the best Pakistan has ever produced, it could send a deeply negative message across the team. There is still time to avoid pressing the panic button; we should focus on sa...
